Trustee and Alumna Named to Leadership Maryland Class of 2018

Gracelyn A. McDermott, C’93, secretary of the Mount St. Mary’s University Board of Trustees and executive director of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of the MidAtlantic States, Inc., has been named to Leadership Maryland’s Class of 2018.

mcdermott.jpgLeadership Maryland, an eight-month hands-on learning program dedicated to building a better Maryland, selected 52 senior-level executives for the Class of 2018 that reflect a cross-section of the state. The program, in its 26th year, provides professional development for executives who have a desire to learn more about Maryland’s most critical issues and a commitment to be a force for positive change in their organizations, their communities and their state.

Mount St. Mary’s President Timothy E. Trainor, Ph.D., noted that in this role, as well as her service on the board of trustees, McDermott is “spreading the Mount’s goodness.” “We look forward to seeing how Gracelyn applies her learning about critical issues in Maryland to her service on the Mount’s board. We know that she will continue to be a force for positive change at the university,” he said.

“The 52 selected participants represent a diverse and broad spectrum of highly qualified executives from across the state, and we are confident that their Leadership Maryland experience will help them to play an even greater role in our unified effort to shape the future of our state,” said Renee M. Winsky, president and chief executive officer of Leadership Maryland.
