This past year, I have been blessed to be the writing intern in the Career Center. My experience has been absolutely wonderful. I have formed strong bonds with the staff members, student workers and my fellow interns that I will carry with me after the Mount.

Through my research, I have learned so much about career development and have shared this knowledge through my articles for the Career Corner Blog and the Mountain Echo. I have met prospective students at Open Houses and other Admissions events and have formed connections with employers of various different professions. I am so grateful that I have had this opportunity to learn and grow in the Career Center and feel very prepared for my future after the Mount.
I have learned many important things over this past year. I have learned that career development is an ongoing process that lasts a lifetime. You are always learning new things, updating your resume and changing roles and responsibilities. I’ve learned the value of following your dreams and working hard to achieve your goals. I’ve become accustomed to asking other people for help and advice, especially contacts in my professional network. The Career Center staff has been extremely helpful in encouraging me to follow my dreams and helping me through the job application and interviewing process. I highly encourage you to take advantage of their expert services!
The Career Center hosts many events throughout the year. I have attended many Career Center events over my four years at the Mount and, by far, my favorite event was the Etiquette Dinner. Not only was the food delicious but the knowledge that I learned about proper dining etiquette was invaluable. I strongly encourage you to attend as many events as you can during your remaining years at the Mount. You will greatly benefit from them!
The Career Center is a welcoming, happy place where the staff is always willing to lend a helping hand. They truly put Mount students first and are dedicated to helping each student achieve his dreams and be successful. I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Career Center team during the 2017-18 academic year and will greatly miss it. Best of luck to you as you continue your Mount education and follow your dreams!
