Student Presents at 2019 Eastern Communication Association Conference

Ariana R. Aragón, C'19, presented her research at the 2019 Eastern Communication Association (ECA) Conference held in Providence, Rhode Island, from April 10-14. Aragon's research paper was among 69 accepted by the Undergraduate Scholars Conference at ECA from among 116 submissions.

Aragón, a communication major, conducted her work for her senior honors project under the mentorship of Assistant Professor of Communication Brian Gilchrist, Ph.D. Her paper analyzed the cross-sectionalism between the LGBT community and the Catholic Church and the media effects on that relationship.

"This is the fourth consecutive year that one of our Mount students has presented a research paper from one of my Communication courses at ECA," Gilchrist said. "I’ve been very thankful for our students’ willingness to challenge themselves and to produce excellent work. Congratulations to Ariana for her exceptional work in writing and communication!"
