Mount Names Leon Dixon, Jr. as Director of Center for Student Diversity

Leon Dixon, Jr. will join Mount St. Mary’s University as assistant dean of students and director of the center for student diversity on July 1. Dixon will be responsible for the daily operations of the Center for Student Diversity. In addition to event programming, Dixon will play a critical role in efforts to enhance student retention and graduation rates and actively assist with enhancing diversity and intercultural understanding among the entire university community. Dixon will also support the execution of the Mount’s restorative justice student misconduct program.

dixon.jpgDixon is currently associate director of the Office of Black Catholic Ministry in Detroit. In this position Dixon establishes programs and outreach to the diverse Catholic, African American community within the Archdiocese of Detroit. Detroit is home to the largest number of African-American parishes in the country.

Dixon has also served as executive director of Kingdom Visions Human Services and dean of students at Detroit Christo Rey High School. In these and additional positions, Dixon has acquired extensive experience coordinating, planning and supporting the daily operations and administrative functions of diverse organizations.

Dixon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management from University of Phoenix (Detroit), an MBA from University of Phoenix (Detroit0, and a graduate certificate in LEAN Management from the University of Michigan.
