SNSM Dean's Speaker Series Kicks Off November 7

The School of Natural Science and Mathematics (SNSM) will launch the Dean’s Speaker Series featuring prestigious guest speakers from various areas of STEM, on Thursday, November 7 at 7 p.m. in Laughlin Auditorium.

dr-leonard-freedman.jpgFor the inaugural event, Leonard Freedman, Ph.D., chief science officer of Leidos Biomedical Research, will give an overview of the research taking place at the Frederick National Lab for Cancer Research, focusing on how artificial intelligence is contributing to advances in cancer biology and drug discovery.

Freedman has held leadership positions in basic biomedical research, drug discovery and science policy in the private and nonprofit sectors, as well as academia. He is the founding president of the Global Biological Standards Institute and has led discovery research efforts in the pharmaceutical industry as a vice president of Wyeth and executive director of Merck.

The presentation is free and open to the public.
