career fair

Sixty-three employers seeking to fill full-time and internship positions will come to Mount St. Mary’s University on March 11 for the university's largest career fair ever. The annual Career Fair for students, sponsored by the Mount St. Mary's University Career Center, will be held from 3-5 p.m. in Patriot Hall.

“In recognition of our students’ talents, a record number of employers are participating in the Career Fair,” said Clare Tauriello, director of the Career Center. "Our students have excellent training and out-of-classroom experiences that make them first-rate selections for jobs and internships."

The Mount in 2018-19 ranked as the No. 1 college for employment in Maryland, according to the career-guidance site Zippia.

The Career Fair provides students with an opportunity to network with employers for internships and jobs. Employers from private industry as well as nonprofit and government organizations will be interested in speaking with students about their openings with every major represented.

Some of those employers include Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research; U.S. Secret Service; AstraZeneca; Merrill/Bank of America; National Institutes of Health; Northwestern Mutual; BDP International; Xcelerate Solutions; U.S. Food and Drug Administration; and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Students attending the fair are encouraged to research the employers, dress professionally, bring 15 copies of their resume and prepare a brief verbal introductory presentation.

The Mount’s Career Center has relationships with more than 1,000 businesses and employers, and offers events throughout the academic year connecting Mount students with employers who are seeking strong candidates for jobs or internships. Through the Career Pathways program, Mount students are linked with alumni working in their field of study. The Career Center is recognized by campus leaders, alumni and employers as an effective, efficient department that prepares students successfully for lives of significance.
