Mount, St. Thomas Aquinas Enter Admissions Partnership

St. Thomas Aquinas High School has become the first high school in New England to partner with Mount St. Mary’s University on an admissions agreement guaranteeing the high school’s graduates admission and a four-year renewable scholarship to the university.

sta-seal_5c-w-shield-outline-small.png“This partnership recognizes our shared goal to enhance access to high-quality values-based education at the high school and postsecondary levels,” said Mount St. Mary’s President Timothy E. Trainor, Ph.D. “This agreement is an ideal fit because both institutions have long histories of enrolling students who are looking to live significantly.”

Founded in 1808, the Mount, America’s oldest independent Catholic university, “graduates ethical leaders who are inspired by a passion for learning and lead lives of significance in service to God and others.” St. Thomas Aquinas, established in 1960 in Dover, New Hampshire, transform the lives of students through a rigorous Catholic education that fosters within graduates “a commitment to justice, service, and moral leadership.”

“St. Thomas Aquinas High School is proud to be associated with Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland through our new mutual admissions agreement.  STA students will find an outstanding home at the Mount with their outstanding academics, vibrant NCAA D-1 Athletics and a continuation of their own Catholic traditions that are inspiring and meaningful,” said St. Thomas Aquinas President Dan Soller.  “I recommend the Mount highly and honestly and see it as a perfect extension of STA’s mission and mount-st-thomas-aquinas-enter-guaranteed-excellence.”

Under the agreement, signed by Trainor and Soller, St. Thomas Aquinas students who meet defined requirements are guaranteed admission to MSMU. Students who meet the criteria will receive, at minimum, a $25,000 four-year award, with a total value of $100,000.

A Mount St. Mary’s admissions representative will visit St. Thomas Aquinas as many as three times a year to share information about the Mount’s academic programs and application, admissions, financial aid and related processes.
