The first-year student is an accomplished mountain biker who has achieved national ranking.

Schwing next will compete at the Cavalier XC Classic ACCC Collegiate Mountain Bike Race September 4 in Charlottesville, Virginia. The following day he will race in the Shenandoah Mountain 100 (a 100-mile backcountry mountain bike race) in Mt. Solon, Virginia. Schwing is the son of Mount alumni Stephen Schwing, C’92, and Laura Bannon Schwing, C’94.

Students who are interested in joining the Mount Cycling Club should contact Ian Schwing, club president, or Mount St. Mary's Executive Vice President Kraig Sheetz, Ph.D, club sponsor.
