New semester, new perspectives

Fall MSMU

As the leaves begin to turn from a lively green to the vibrant colors associated with fall, our Mountain Home will awake from a sleepy week of students being away for fall break to the Fall 2021 semester being in full swing.

With the semester being in full swing now, student life has also picked up on our campus. While we are still closely monitoring COVID on campus and in the outside world, this semester has brought back with it some sense of normalcy. Many students are back on campus for in-person instruction, with only a handful of students being fully remote for the semester. Students attend class daily instead of in designated blue and gold groups, and student organizations are meeting again after a year where many groups remained inactive or met over Zoom.

Along with this return to some sense of normalcy, we have a new group of students bringing their perspectives to you via My View of MSMU this semester. You can expect posts about finding your place on campus through Natalie's view, which will be posted on Mondays. Reflective posts about their first three years as Mount students can be expected from seniors Christos and Ashley and will be posted on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, respectively. Thursdays bring us Asia's view, with posts about her involvement in extracurricular activities like Black Student Union and the Division I Track and Field team. And you can expect more posts about mental health concerns and the resources available to students with learning disabilities through Eileen's view, which will be posted on Fridays. As our students learn the ins and outs of blogging and writing for a wide-ranging audience, you'll hopefully enjoy a diverse set of perspectives from our new set of bloggers this semester. Student posts will be published Monday through Friday weekly starting October 11 through the end of the semester. We hope you enjoy our view of MSMU!

If you are a current Mount student interested in sharing your view of MSMU, reach out to Dr. Kennedy (kennedy@msmary.edu) to learn more about COMM 301. We will run a section of the class in Spring 2022 and are looking for new bloggers as we approach advising week.
