Hi everyone! My name is Kellyann Palm, and I’m a senior here at the Mount. Senior year has definitely snuck up on me, and I’m lucky to say that I am dreading college being over.
I remember touring the Mount for the first time. We went to the Knott Auditorium for the introductory address. Sitting there with my mom, I almost wanted to leave. Still in denial about high school ending, I was not ready for the cruel awakening ahead of me. However, as my tour guide showed me around campus, there was a warmth about the Mount. I loved how many people my tour guide said hi to as we wandered around. Everyone seemed to know everyone. It made me feel comfortable, and I knew soon after that this was the place for me. I am thankful every day that I didn’t leave Knott Auditorium that cold winter day! I have cherished my time here. I will always feel blessed to be able to look back fondly on the college years the Mount gave me.
As a second semester senior, I have a relatively well-rounded view of college. I have been through the ups and downs, and somehow survived. In this blog, I want to reflect on college as a whole: The good, the bad, and the ugly. I'll touch on anxiety, juggling family life, having a job, going out, trying to keep in touch with friends from home, and the guilt of not feeling like I’m doing enough in between all of that. Being able to cope with the guilty feeling of not reaching my own expectations has been a huge hurdle for me to jump in college. I am excited to be able to share some of that journey with you all!
I can’t wait to see all that this semester brings. It feels right to end my college experience the way I started it, stumbling through and making things work. Follow along with me for the grand finale of my college career this semester!
