Welcome to my blog, I’m Michael Gomez. I am currently a senior at Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. I am a communication major preparing to graduate college in May. It's crazy to me that my time as a college student is coming to an end, as these past four years have flown by. Being at such a small school, there were many hobbies I had in order to keep myself occupied. Some things I like to do are playing video games, hanging out with my friends, and watching movies. However, my biggest interest and hobby is watching sports, specifically basketball, baseball, and football. Therefore, most of my posts here on this blog will be about sports, such as articles and opinion related posts.
Being from New York, I am a huge fan of New York professional sports teams. Ever since I was a young boy, my dad has been a heavy influence on my passion for sports, as he and I would watch sports together all the time when I was growing up. When it comes to sports, there’s honestly probably nothing that I enjoy more. I watch sports for multiple hours a day, and find them super entertaining. Every avid sport watcher has their thoughts and opinions on a certain team or sport, which is why I felt inclined to base my blog around sports. I hope to incorporate posts about Mount athletics, too.
I watch the National Basketball Association (NBA), the National Football League (NFL), and Major League Baseball (MLB) very often and stay very invested in the three sports. I am a fan of the New York Knicks of the NBA, the New York Giants (sadly) of the NFL, and the New York Yankees of the MLB. Almost my whole life I wanted to write or talk about sports in some way, shape, or form, and this blog, as well as all of the useful writing and communications skills that I have learned at the Mount, will give me the ability to do so. In the future, I would like to be some kind of sports writer or commentator, and the Mount definitely helped me towards that type of future career.
