Our Mountain Home has been a bit chilly these past few weeks, but spring is on the horizon which brings new life and new energy to our campus.
While we are still closely monitoring COVID on campus and in the outside world, I think this semester has brought back with it a desire for some sense of near normalcy. Students returned from winter break with their medical grade masks and have been attending classes even when the brutal mountain winds whip across the quad. We've seen some fluctuating temperatures above freezing finally so as the temperatures continue to warm up, student activities are warming up too. Mount students recently had the opportunity to go iceless ice skating at the PAC and competed against each other in a LEGO competition. They've also been cheering on their peers at a variety of sporting events and getting into a groove for the Spring 2022 semester.
As the seasons change from winter to spring this semester, we have our largest group of students to date bringing their perspectives to you via My View of MSMU. In the coming weeks, you'll meet several students, including a handful of members of the class of 2022 who will reflect on their previous four years at the Mount.
- On Mondays, Luke will reflect on his journey as a D1 swimmer who just entered retirement.
- On Tuesdays, Greg, also a D1 swimmer at the Mount, will bring us his perspective as a student athlete who is getting ready to graduate and is dealing with the stresses that come with transitioning into the real world from undergraduate life.
- On Wednesdays, senior Malcolm will talk about how the Mount has helped him to pursue a career in professional wrestling while senior Kellyann will reflect on her four years as a Mount student and all the ups, downs, anxieties, and ultimately happiness she found at her mountain home.
- On Thursdays, senior business major Tommy will talk about how the small community at the Mount and the activities the surrounding areas have to offer really hooked him while Angelica will focus on her preparation for a career in broadcast journalism.
- And on Fridays, senior COMM major Michael will bring us some sports talk as he sharpens his skills in pursuit of a career in sports journalism while Russell, a junior D1 athlete on the tennis team who will graduate early this spring, will talk about the privilege of being a student athlete.
Student work will be posted beginning the week of February 14 and run through the end of the semester. We hope you enjoy our view of MSMU! If you are a current Mount student interested in sharing your view of MSMU, reach out to Dr. Kennedy (
