50 Days Until Graduation

Michael Gomez

March 26th marked 50 days until the seniors at Mount St. Mary’s University, including myself, walk across stage and graduate college. After all the hard work that each and every single one of us has put in as a Mount St. Mary’s student, walking across the stage and finally graduating is going to be a special moment in all of our lives. I’ve spent four years at this school, learning a lot from my classes and meeting some great people.

As a 17-year-old freshman from New York coming into this school, I didn’t know anyone else going to the Mount. Therefore, I was somewhat worried I would have trouble making friends, as I didn’t know much about how individuals from outside of New York were. Luckily for me, I was a somewhat talkative person, so I made some friends my second night on campus.

My second night at school, I met a group of kids from New Jersey and Maryland. Four years later, the five of us are now roommates, and all graduating together. Through the past four years here, I basically lived with these other kids for 8 months of the year, practically seeing them every single day. 50 days from tomorrow, we’re all going to be graduating.

While we’re all excited to finish our first four years of college and finally graduate, it is somewhat upsetting that we’re all not going to see each other as much, but that’s just how life is. Although we have so many countless memories together over the past few years, it’s time for each of us to start the next stage in life, and I think that each and every single one of us is ready to take that step.
