Pre-Match Thoughts:
We are embarking on a journey: The men's tennis team heads out to Boston, Massachusetts to face two NEC Rivals soon. We start by playing Merrimack on Saturday and then Bryant on Sunday. The matches are not easy, and we are underdogs according to the NEC pre-season ratings. However, we are all in high spirits coming off a confident victory over Howard recently.
As the season progresses the team comes more and more in form. We are currently 2-2 so far in the year, or a .500 win percentage. Going into the weekend it is going to be a constant battle, as no lines will be given to us and we are going to have to go out and take it. However, there is a level of excitement that accompanies our quest: We have the chance of doing the unexpected and shocking the NEC.
With these being the first set of NEC conference matches we are playing, I think that it can set a precedence for what might follow in the season. If we can continue our momentum, we may be able to book a higher seed coming into the conference tournament. Overall, I'm really excited for what is to come and I am confident that all of the guys on the team are going to be able to hold their own and get the job done.
Post-Match Thoughts :
The weekend was difficult, as the team struggled with some injuries throwing off our lineup and mentality. We fell to Merrimack and Bryant 1-6 after some disappointing matchups. We were down 1-2 guys in both matches after a combination of sickness and injuries. Overall, we had our moments in the matches and we all fought hard while we were out there. We move onto LIU and SFU in a little over a week.
