In this blog, I share my family's impact on me while sharing the importance of being close to your loved ones.
The last week of March was one of the first times that I got to be with my family in such a long time. It was a feeling that I hadn't felt in a while, and being with them made my heart full. Spending time with family members that I haven't seen in years, who live far and travel from long distances, is a blessing. Although it had been so long, I felt as if we picked up from where we left off.
I feel that it is essential to spend time with your family as much as possible. It is important to cherish the time you have with them at that moment. With only one month of college left and days away from being a Mount Alumna, I feel anxious about where I will be after I graduate. My focus has been on keeping my grades up and applying for Graduate Schools all at once. It entails a lot of writing, studying, taking notes, and... even more writing and studying and taking notes! Juggling both has often been a struggle, but I always try to remember that anything you want in life is possible if you are willing to put in the work.
Being with my family has lifted a lot of that weight off of my shoulders. I have been overwhelmed by school, which sometimes affects my mental health, and being around the people that love and support me the most uplifts my spirit. When I am with my family, it is a safe space where I can socialize in an atmosphere where I feel safe and at my height of happiness.
Knowing that I have a great support system is a tremendous feeling that keeps me motivated. The motivation from my family helps me as a college student because they believe in me more than I often believe in myself. Without my family, I wouldn't know the meaning of love. Being close with my family has taught me the valuable lessons of loyalty and strength that I carry on in my heart and show to others as often as I can.
