Week six of my senior year was full of excitement due to Saint Patrick’s Day, job search opportunities, and visiting home. The entire theme for this week at school was green due to Saint Patrick’s Day celebrated that Thursday. It created a nice break from my typical school week and caused my regular schedule to be disrupted by many of the events that Mount held to celebrate Saint Paddy’s Day.
While my week was certainly spiced up, I did not forget to attend the Ott House on Thursday with my friends where we had a couple beers, danced, and played pool until close, just like every other Thursday. (Alumni might remember College Night down at the Mount’s local bar; since COVID restrictions have loosened up, many of us have begun to meet up on Thursday evenings instead of Wednesday.) Friday morning, I spent most of my time looking for a job for after graduation. I was excited to find positions in construction that I believe I would be very happy to obtain. While this is very important to me, I was even more excited to find that these positions were in Towson and Delaware Beach which happen to be my top pick for a place to live after college. Therefore, I handed in all the applications, and I am eagerly waiting to hear back from these companies.
After submitting the rest of my applications, I decided to go home to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with my family. This is a big event in my family because my mother came from a very Irish background, therefore in order to celebrate, my family and I met up at my parent’s place on the water and spent the weekend working on the house, fishing, and throwing a big Irish Catholic family celebration that included eating corned beef and cabbage, drinking Guinness, and having tons of potato dishes. While celebrating with my family was very fun and much needed, the week of Saint Patrick’s Day came to an end, and I look forward to resuming to my normal schedule back at school to enjoy the rest of my final year at the Mount.
