In this blog, I share my experience of working outside for the first time of the semester while sharing the importance of taking time out of your day to be outside.
As spring weather slowly approached us last week, spring brought us one of the first days where the weather was warmer than any day of the semester. Since it was the last day before Easter Break, I decided, "Why not enjoy this beautiful weather? It feels amazing outside!" One of the best decisions I made that whole week was putting on some music, opening up my laptop, and immediately falling into springtime bliss.
Spending time outdoors when the weather is nice is something I would take for granted, especially last semester. Not realizing how productive I was outside versus inside showed me that the outside isn’t just a place to have fun but also a place to find peace and balance.
When walking around campus, I always felt as though I shouldn’t be outside because most of the time, all of my surroundings would be students on skateboards, playing volley, football, or lying on towels on the grass. I was under the impression that was the way to enjoy the outside when I finally realized it was much more than that. Enjoying the outdoors is what you make of it. Whether playing a game, listening to music, or skateboarding is a way in which everyone finds their sense of peace or relaxation.
After that day, one of my goals as a senior graduating next month is to enjoy these last two weeks and be outside. During the springtime, it is very peaceful, and the spring breeze feels fantastic. It is essential to enjoy the things around you because they won’t always be there. Time will always continue to pass, so it is important to enjoy life in the moment.
