The past weekend was unfortunately not one of our greatest showings. Our match against Wagner got rescheduled due to some issues on their end, and we fell to Penn State 0-7. We had some chances in the matches, losing some close ones. However, we couldn't put it together in the end. While the score may not show it, we fought hard and were a lot closer than everyone expected.
Next up we have Navy and Saint Francis Brooklyn, both very strong teams. Brooklyn is a conference match for us, and it will be the more difficult of the two. SFUBK downed Navy 4-3 early on in their season in January. We go into both the matches very hungry, as a win or a good result could help us in the conference tournament seedings greatly. They are both home matches, and since the weather is expected to be nice, we will be playing outdoors. I believe this is great for us as it gives us an advantage in terms of energy and the overall feeling on the courts, as everyone's facilities are always a bit different. This is advantageous for us because our courts are typically a lot slower and very windy compared to normal courts. It will be very difficult for our opponents to adjust.
We are heading into the final stretch of our season as we have two weeks left of regular season play, then our conference tournament. We have 8 matches in the next two weeks, including the upcoming ones over the weekend, so it is going to be a hectic time for the team. It is a bitter sweet feeling to being this close to the end; however, I am just taking it one day at a time and enjoying the moments. There is still a lot of tennis to be played so I need to stay focused!
