Tips for Exam Studying

Some tried-and-true methods

Exam season can be stressful; here are some helpful study methods.

As exam season approaches, it can feel like there is an insurmountable amount of facts, dates, and general knowledge to memorize. It can be stressful, especially for the studious among us who strive for perfection on tests.

Fear not; in this article, I'll give a few tried-and-true methods to better absorb information.

1) Write it down

The tactile movement of actually writing down information (yes, with a pen/pencil and paper) is good for memorization. It can help burn some of those harder-to-remember details into your mind before test day.

Try this out - if available, go back to recorded lectures or posted class material and take notes on it like you're seeing it for the first time. It'll help!

2) Do practice problems/essays

This one is pretty self-explanatory, but doing the type of question, whether it's a math problem or an essay, that you might see on an exam is a good way to practice.

Make a list of possible concepts, questions, and/or topics and make an effort to answer them.

3) Refer to the experts!

This can be carried out in a variety of ways. You can go to your professors, watch Youtube videos from experts in the field, or just go to a peer who may have a better grasp on the topics than you. The important thing is that you make an attempt to learn from someone who may be more proficient than you.

With these three tips, you should be armed to nail your next exam!
