On Tuesday, Aug. 23, Saxbys will open its newest student-run cafe at Mount St. Mary’s in the newly renovated Knott Academic Center. Starting at 12 p.m. with a blessing by Msgr. William King, the event will celebrate this exciting partnership and include good food, fun, and a limited edition giveaway for the first 250 guests.
While headquartered in Philadelphia, Saxbys’ network of cafes continue to grow through the expansion of The Saxbys’ Experiential Learning Platform (E.L.P.), which redefines what it means to be a cafe, creating a culture that empowers students to run their own impactful business to serve their community. The Mount’s cafe will be run by the inaugural Student Cafe Executive Officer (Student C.E.O.), Chloe Knill, and her all-star team — all of whom will work together to make a difference not only in the cafe but the Mount’s community at large.
“As Inaugural Student C.E.O., Chloe has the unique opportunity to fully embody one of Saxbys’ core values: ‘We are a community serving our community,’” said Nick Bayer, Saxbys Founder & CEO. “During her term, Chloe will manage a team of over 30 of her peers, all of whom have the tremendous challenge and opportunity to run their own business while building and serving a thriving community of Mountaineers at the heart of campus.”
In addition to Bayer, the event will also include remarks by President Timothy E. Trainor, Ph.D.; Assistant Professor of Business Christina Green, Ph.D.; and Knill. On Grand Opening day, the first 250 guests to visit the Mount cafe will also receive a Saxbys ‘Greatest Hits’ voucher, which will highlight guests' favorite menu items and feature four weeks of giveaways. During the first month of operation, for every purchase made using the Saxbys app, guests will be automatically entered to win ‘Free Cold Brew for a Year.’
