In the 2023-24 academic year, Mount St. Mary’s University will begin awarding the new Live Significantly Opportunity Grant, enabling eligible prospective students to attend free of cost.

The Live Significantly Opportunity Grant is a demonstration of the Mount’s ongoing commitment to affordable, high-quality education. This grant covers all college-related costs, including tuition, on-campus room and board, books and other fees. By combining matching government and institutional aid for qualifying students, the Mount hopes to eliminate concerns over loans, debt and tuition payments for these students and their families, allowing them to concentrate more fully on academics.

Prospective students who receive federal Pell Grants and Maryland's Guaranteed Access Grant are awarded a matching merit scholarship from the Mount. The Guaranteed Access (GA) Grant is a Maryland grant given to in-state high school seniors who plan on attending college and meet certain financial requirements.

“The Live Significantly Opportunity Grant arose from an effort to coordinate federal, state and university resources so that we could make a Mount education accessible to as many students as possible.  The university's mission statement calls us to graduate ethical leaders who lead lives of significance, and we think that this program will make it easier for students to focus on that transformational opportunity, rather than how they will afford college,” explained Eric Danielson, director of admissions at Mount St. Mary’s.

To receive the GA Grant, qualifying students must submit their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by March 1, 2023. Eligible students who are accepted to the Mount will have the Live Significantly Opportunity Grant added to their financial aid package.
