I continue to learn new things at work both at games and in the office. I am learning the game of baseball as I begin running the scoreboard. I am also learning new aspects of Photoshop. A recent task included seeing a post from another university and recreating it to fit the Mount. This creativeness is exactly what I need as I am certain I will create this type of content once I break into the sports world.
As Spring Break closes, I go back to reality. While professors understand the need to move slowly out of the gate, the sports world is not as forgiving. As the women’s lacrosse manager, I am fortunate I was able to go home during break, unlike the team who had to continue playing. My first weekend home, I worked remotely as the men’s and women’s basketball teams were in the MAAC Championship. Unfortunately, both teams lost in the second round against Iona. Women’s lacrosse earned their first victory of the season against La Salle.
I’m getting a taste of what my professional life will look like as I put aside fun activities such as going to brunch with my roommates because I have to work. Life is all about balance. While I wish I could spend my Saturday morning with my friends, I know I have the responsibility to be at the men’s lacrosse game. I am lucky enough to take off an entire weekend for my birthday, therefore, I know I have to balance when I ask for time off.

When I wasn’t live tweeting from home, I was busy applying for jobs. The sports world is difficult to get into, so I am expanding my options and looking for general marketing jobs in the areas I would like to live. I would like the opportunity to work and live in Washington, DC. Fortunately, the Mount has connections with the Washington Commanders. On March 21, there is an information session for those interested in internships.
While I have class during that time, one plus of going to a smaller university is that I have a relationship with my professor. If I explain to him about the conflict, I believe he will let me attend the information session. In professional sports, internships are typically done post-graduate, therefore, I hope this information session will cater toward my needs and help me get my foot in the door.
