During this time, it is important not to give up or procrastinate. Procrastination is an easy thing to give into. I do something called productive procrastination. For example, I will clean my room or the kitchen to put off doing homework. I am doing something that needs to be done in order to feel better about putting off other obligations.
“Senioritis” is something I’m sure all of us had a point in school. Senioritis refers to the point in the year when seniors begin to essentially get burnt out. While this is not an excuse to give up, it is something hard to push through. I have officially hit the point of senior year; therefore, I am trying my best to get ahead of my work so I can reward myself on the weekends and take the time to reenergize.
For example, I have a paper due the Tuesday before Easter break. Instead of waiting until the weekend to work on it, I turned it in a week early. I also have an exam on Monday, April 3. Unfortunately, I cannot take the weekend off from studying so instead I am starting to study early in small increments.

My birthday is Thursday, March 30 which makes this week even harder to push through. I have plans Thursday, Friday and Saturday with my friends. Friday I am going to Washington, DC with my roommates and friends. This is my motivation to get extra ahead. It is helpful that my roommates are in the same boat, even the ones who are not seniors are ready for summer. With so many of us going out the next three days, we are motivating each other to get ahead so we are not stressed in DC and can enjoy our time out.
This is the perfect week to get ahead as women’s lacrosse is away for their two games this week. I will still support the team from home and watch the games, but I am fortunate to have the option of traveling with the team. With games being away, practices are obviously cancelled. There is no excuse as to why I cannot get ahead on studying and papers.
Next week is Easter break and a home game for women’s lacrosse. Due to classes ending on Wednesday, I am pushing through and finding motivation. I am grateful to have a spring break and Easter break. Having a break essentially every month and going home allows me to reenergize and gain back motivation.
