Senior Year Recap

Colby Davis C'23

Y2K Dance

This year was one for the books, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I am thankful for my opportunities and look forward to what the future has in store. I am hopeful for my future and know the Mount, especially athletics, has prepared me.

Thursday morning, Kelly and I talked about some of our favorite memories from the Mount over the past four years. We remember walking in as freshman with no idea what the future had in store for us. Over the course of college, we found a strong group of friends and our confidence.

It has been a whirlwind over the past nine months; so much has happened. The year started with a mix of old roommates and new roommates who have now become my best friends. In October, my sister got married which made 2022 one for the books. It was my first time being in a wedding since I was nine years old, and this time I was the maid of honor. This taught me how to be organized and responsible for many events, something that will occur in my marketing career.

December’s highlight was the Christmas dance hosted by AMP. All my roommates and I dressed up and took pictures while popping champagne. Even though we aren’t all graduating, we all wanted to make these semesters memorable. We loved the glow-themed dance last year and were hoping for something similar during “Rampage,” another AMP event. While we did not get our “glow” theme, this year’s was Y2K (year 2000). We once again got dressed up and had the time of our lives dancing and singing “throwback” songs.

People say these four years fly by, and they really do, especially because we lived through a pandemic. I made the most of freshman year with the time I had. I lived in a hotel for first semester sophomore year, which was a unique experience. In junior year, I found my group of friends. Senior year was the cherry on top. I became friends with people I would have never expected. I went on trips to Annapolis, Frederick, and DC with my friends. We had themed events and got to celebrate numerous 21st birthdays together and Los Amigos.
