Mount St. Mary’s University signed an agreement with St. Joseph Academy in Hammonton, New Jersey, guaranteeing St. Joseph graduates admission and a four-year renewable scholarship to the university. St. Joseph is the second high school in New Jersey that the Mount has partnered with for guaranteed admissions.

Trainor, Ph.D. “Both institutions have long histories of enrolling students who are looking to pursue purpose-driven lives.”

Founded in 1808, Mount St. Mary’s, America’s oldest independent Catholic university, “graduates ethical leaders who are inspired by a passion for learning and lead lives of significance in service to God and others.” St. Joseph, established in 1942, challenges students to lead lives that cultivate a “love for learning, honor and excellence” within a faith-based environment.

“At St. Joseph Academy we pride ourselves on our dedication to academic excellence and developing well-rounded scholars. We couldn’t be more proud of our partnership with Mount St. Mary’s University, an institution with a long and distinguished history,” said Dean of Academics Mimi Vaccarella. “This is an amazing opportunity for our students to continue their education in an environment that will nurture their service to God, prepare them for personal growth, and instill a love for learning with the ability to adapt to new challenges.”

Under the agreement, signed by Mount St. Mary’s President Trainor, and St. Joseph  Academy President Stephen Cappuccio, a Mount alumnus. St. Joseph students who meet certain standards are guaranteed admission to the university. St. Joseph students who attend the Mount under the agreement will receive, at minimum, a $26,000 four-year award, with a total value of $104,000.

A Mount St. Mary’s admissions representative will visit St. Joseph up to three times a year to share information about the Mount’s academic programs and application, admissions, financial aid, and related processes.

In addition to St. Joseph, Mount St. Mary's has guaranteed admissions partnerships with 10 other Catholic high schools, including Holy Cross Preparatory Academy in New Jersey; Saint John's Catholic Prep and St. Maria Goretti High School in Maryland; St. Thomas Aquinas High School in New Hampshire; and Delone Catholic High School, York Catholic High School, Trinity High School, Bishop McDevitt High School, Berks Catholic High School, and Allentown Central High School, all in Pennsylvania.
