2024 March for Life in snow

On January 19, nearly two dozen Mount St. Mary’s University students and a Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) missionary braved a snowstorm to participate in the 51st annual March for Life. The group traveled to Washington, D.C. for the day in two university vans.

Although the snowstorm forced Mount St, Mary’s Seminary to cancel its usual charter bus for the March, many of the seminarians and Msgr. Andrew Baker, the rector of the Seminary, still traveled to the District of Columbia on their own and marched as a group.

The National Shrine Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes also participated, holding a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of the Unborn on January 22, featuring Mass and a special rosary.

The theme of this year’s March was “with every woman, for every child,” highlighting the importance of helping single parents and mothers with difficult pregnancies through their journey. Speakers included Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson, U.S. Representative Chris Smith (NJ), and former NFL tight end Benjamin Watson.
