Over winter break, 31 Mount students, 10 seminarians, one seminary alumnus and the entire Campus Ministry team traveled to St. Louis to attend the 2024 SEEK Conference. They represented Mount St. Mary’s University—alongside 24,000 other college students and ministers—as they participated in Mass, Adoration, and sessions from Catholic speakers.

seek3-in-text.jpgSEEK is a five-day convention that takes place every January and is sponsored and organized by the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS). Geared primarily toward college students, SEEK welcomes students of any religious background, priests and religious, Campus Ministry employees, missionaries, volunteers and more.

Well-known Catholics, such as Fr. Mike Schmitz and Jason Evert, delivered talks, and entertainment included a performance from folk band Judah & the Lion. The conference aims to allow participants to encounter Christ and His Church through prayer, sacraments, keynote sessions and fellowship with other attendees.

seek2-in-text.jpg“FOCUS creates in SEEK a special opportunity for encounter through powerful speakers who share the Gospel and how to live and share it in our world today, through the daily celebration of the Holy Mass, and through praise and worship before the Blessed Sacrament in Adoration while thousands also received God’s mercy through the Sacrament of Reconciliation,” shared Director of Campus Ministry Krysti Patient. “His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, affectionately addressed us all as ‘seekers’ throughout his homily. This was appropriate, of course, given the name of the conference. It was also such a simple reminder of why we had gathered—because we seek the One whom our soul loves, who has loved us first with an incredible love.”
