Meet Chloe McCarthy

Hi everyone! My name is Chloe McCarthy, and I am a sophomore from Annapolis, Maryland. I am majoring in communication studies, and I love to write!

I am really close to my family, which includes my parents, three sisters, a brother (the youngest) and two golden retrievers. I love to be outside, and if I am not running, you can find me at the beach, on the boat, or shopping somewhere.

Chloe on the trackI came to the Mount because I am a cross-country and track athlete. When I came to tour the campus, I fell in love with the school and knew that it was the right place for me. The campus itself is such a beautiful place—especially in the fall and spring when the leaves are changing.

For this series of blog posts, I will discuss my view as a student-athlete here at the Mount. While I have been here for roughly two years, I have unfortunately not had one full injury-free season yet. Navigating my life here as both an athlete, and student has been far from what I expected. These experiences have fully shifted my perspective and have given me a more positive outlook. I have found peace with the idea that everything happens for a reason, and I am meant to be at the Mount. Every athlete has their struggles from time to time, and this blog will highlight those experiences.

As an athlete, one of the hardest things you can do is give up your favorite thing. Watching your teammates is not easy when you’re on the sidelines, but still supporting them and changing your mindset improves everything.

These past two years have arguably been the hardest, but also the best years of my life, and I am so grateful for the friendships I have built here.

I hope that this series can inspire you whether you are an athlete, student or even a prospective student here!
