The sun is setting on every senior's college experience around this time. Everyone is soaking in every last moment of freedom and time with friends on top of juggling the last finals some will ever take. I've been reflecting on my four years of college, and today I'm sharing my feelings with you.
Being a college senior is much different than being a senior in high school. It's far better and far more bittersweet. For me, high school didn't mean much. A third of my experience was behind a computer screen during the pandemic. College was where I wanted to be. It was the dream. THE dream. I didn't think much of what I wanted beyond that (which is okay!).
In high school, I was involved in clubs and played sports, but somehow, all that is so much more significant in college. Being involved or not could make or break your experience. This is not to scare you but to excite you. You're going to be living here on this campus. This will be your life, so make the most of it! Being involved aids in making friends and memories that you'll always cherish.
So here I am, four years later, reflecting as we roll through the last days of the semester and my last moments as a college student. I loved it. Despite some drama and burned bridges along the way, I've accepted that this is life and some things will happen again in the future. I've had a total blast, even down to finishing the most dread-filled essays and exams. Time has flown so crazy fast. My advice is to make the most of your time because when you get to this time during your senior year, you'll realize how much time was either filled with joy or wasted.
As a senior, you'll get asked "are you ready?" a lot. I have a different answer every time. Sometimes it's yes, sometimes it's no. I'm sure it's normal. As much as I'm excited to start my life outside of school, I'm also going to miss living with my best friends and all the crazy shenanigans we get up to around here. I'm going to miss the spontaneous late-night Grotto visits, the events, the general student buzz, and yes, even some of my professors. But another part of me is eager to be an adult and be successful. I want to have my own life, settle down, and raise a family one day. My future kids are sure to have a kick-ass mom who went to a particularly unique school and did tons of neat stuff.
I have a few more of these blog posts to go before we part, so I'll see you in the next one!
