Mount St. Mary’s University joined Frederick’s tech community as a proud Game Sponsor at the 2025 techfrederick Games, supporting a day of teamwork, innovation and friendly competition that brought together professionals from across the region’s growing tech and biotech industries.

Mount St. Mary’s University proudly served as a game sponsor for the 2025 techfrederick Games, held Friday, October 3, at Baker Park in Frederick, Maryland. The annual event brought together members of Frederick’s tech and biotech industries for a day of friendly competition and community building.

Hosted by techfrederick, a local organization dedicated to connecting and advancing professionals in technology-driven fields through advocacy, education, and collaboration, the games have become a signature event celebrating the region’s vibrant professional community.

As a game sponsor, the Mount’s partnership helped support the event’s mission of strengthening connections across Frederick’s tech ecosystem. Sponsorship benefits included brand visibility through signage, recognition on techfrederick’s website and social media channels, and opportunities for direct engagement with local professionals.

The Mount sponsored “Word Warriors,” a fast-paced, Scrabble-inspired challenge that tested teams’ quick thinking and creativity. Representing the university, Director of Recruitment for the Division of Continuing Studies Valerie Pearson volunteered at the game throughout the day.

“It was such a great event to be part of,” Pearson said. “One of my favorite moments was when the Mayor of Frederick, playing on the City of Frederick’s team, placed the word ‘Mount’ right in the middle of the board—it was a fun touch!”

Pearson also serves on techfrederick’s Board of Directors, helping guide the organization’s initiatives to support local professionals and expand educational opportunities.

The Mount’s collaboration with techfrederick extends beyond the games. Later this month, the university will host one of the organization’s upcoming networking and educational programs on campus, continuing their shared goal of connecting students, professionals, and organizations driving technological and economic growth in the region.
