Eight Mount St. Mary’s University students in the Green Terror Battalion swore their oath of enlistment and committed to pursuit of a commission in the U.S. Army in a recent ceremony in which they were awarded scholarships valued in total at nearly $1.1 million.
The scholarships, which are awarded based on scholastic, athletic and leadership attributes, cover full tuition and fees, plus funds for books and a monthly living stipend. The students will be commissioned as second lieutenants and will serve as active duty in the Army Reserve or National Guard upon graduation from the Mount.

The Green Terror Battalion, which includes cadets from the Mount, McDaniel College and Hood College, is one of the oldest ROTC programs in the country. A participant in the Post 9/11 GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program, the Mount is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a top college for veterans in the North.
