The Mount St. Mary’s University Career Center launched MountHired, a full-fledged career management system designed in partnership with Symplicity to empower connections that lead to internships and jobs.

Tauriello, director of the career center. Even before the launch of MountHired, the Mount’s career center has received high marks for its success in assisting students and alumni in finding employment. The university ranks as the No. 1 college for employment in Maryland, according to the career-guidance site Zippia.

The Zippia researchers used the U.S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) to identify the college in each state with the highest listed job placement ratings, looking specifically at employment levels at year 10 after students have graduated. The Mount’s 10-year placement rate is 93.97 percent, outranking such prestigious universities as Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Vanderbilt University.

“The Mount’s faculty and career center provides students with the guidance, skills, and tools to define and seek their career or graduate school path after graduation,” said Mount St. Mary’s University President Timothy E. Trainor, Ph.D. “I believe that our 10-year placement rate will continue to rise. Within one year of graduation, 98 percent of the Class of 2016 reported that they were either employed or in graduate school. That number is based on a 90 percent knowledge rate.”

MountHired is a “powerful tool” that allows students and alumni to search job and internship opportunities; enables corporate partners to easily recruit Mount undergraduate students, graduate students and alumni; and connects students, alumni and businesses with the career center, Tauriello said.

More than 13 million job applications annually are submitted through Symplicity, the leading employability platform serving students, alumni and employers. To date, more than 500 Mount students and alumni have joined MountHired and created their personalized, customized profiles, according to Tauriello.
